A recent hotels.com survey of U.S. adults revealed the following: Their home away from home - Among those polled who are planning a summer vacation, nearly two-thirds (63 percent) will be staying at a hotel or other kind of rental property, like a condo or resort. Something for Big Dogs to Celebrate from Ohmidog! Weight limits — those arbitrary, ill-conceived, downright discriminatory restrictions on dogs at many otherwise "pet-friendly" hotels — have bitten the dust at one California boutique hotel chain. Joie de Vivre, California's largest boutique hotel collection, has done away with its weight limit for canine guests, according to Hotels magazine. It has also dropped its pet surcharge. More

Ramada Plaza Hotel Sold to Experienced California Group from Hotel News Resource The Ramada Plaza Hotel in Fond du Lac, Wis., has been sold to Fine Hospitality Group, a California firm. Milmark Hotel/Motel Investments, a member of Hotel Brokers International, handled the transaction. The Sellers, CPRS Properties, LLP and One North Main, Inc., headed by Fond du Lac resident Ron Schmitz, acquired this historic landmark in May, 2003. More
Tour of California: Nevada City to Sacramento? from KCRA-TV When Lance Armstrong crossed the finish line winning the 49th annual Nevada City, Calif., Bike Classic, Nevada City felt like they were winners, too. The professional race drew 30,000 fans to Nevada City. It featured Armstrong, Chris Horner and Levi Leipheimer. Armstrong told the huge crowd that the Amgen Tour of California has to consider Nevada City for the 2010 race. More

California's Budget Crisis Could Close Tahoe-area Parks from Reno Gazette-Journal Under a proposal by Republican Gov.
