Domain Name Scams Are Making the Rounds Again

Please be aware that many members have recently received scam emails about registering their domain names with Asian suffixes (.hk, .cn, .asia, .tw, etc). One method of prevention from these scams is to make your domain register private, which is available from any registrar. For your safety and convenience, we've compiled a list of the most recent scams, with handy links to blog discussions about each of these scams. These are all scams: SK Holdings Company, Ltd., Asia Domain Name Registration Limited, Century Net Group Stocks Limited, and Karl Fischer. Please take the time to acquaint yourselves with these so your organization does not fall victim to them.

Who Says There is No Such Thing as a Free Lunch?

Coalition Sues Long Beach Over Downtown Hotel

A coalition is suing the city of Long Beach, Calif., alleging that it violated two laws when the City Council voted to approve a 125-room hotel downtown. The Long Beach Coalition for Good Jobs and a Healthy Community says the city did not comply with the Brown Act when it did not accept public comment during the July 21 council meeting before deciding on the Hotel Sierra project at the Pike at Rainbow Harbor.
