Food Security: Is it better to 'eat local' or global?

Thanks to the recent agreement on the Trans Pacific Partnership, the issue of food security has made its way into the election campaign. Dairy and poultry producers were concerned that Canada's system of supply management would disappear under the new deal and they warned that if that system was lost, a big part of our food security would go with it.

Ontario urging students to consider careers in agriculture-food sector

Ontario politicians are taking steps to get more young people to consider careers in the province's agricultural and food sector, including some high-tech options. Progressive Conservative MPP Lisa Thompson lined up all-party support for her motion to add a component on the agriculture-food sector to the "careers and guidance curriculum" for Grades 9 and 10 students.
