Researchers at McMaster University are inviting members of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association to participate in a survey regarding your perceptions about prescribing Vitamin D in fracture patients. The clinic is aiming to reduce wait times for the surgeries, since the process can take roughly a year through a typical referral from a family physician.

L'Association des infirmières de l'Ontario prévient que toute compression d'infirmières à l'hôpital Horizon Santé Nord de Sudbury aura un impact sur les soins prodigués aux patients. L'administration n'a rien confirmé jusqu'à maintenant, mais le syndicat laisse entendre que jusqu'à 34 postes d'infirmières autorisées seront supprimés lors du présent exercice budgétaire.

Research finds potassium salts aid bone health and limit osteoporosis risk

Latest research from the University of Surrey has found that the potassium salts (bicarbonate and citrate) plentiful in fruit and vegetables, play an important part in improving bone health. For the first time, the results also showed that these potassium salts reduce bone resorption, the process by which bone is broken down, therefore increasing their strength.

Sault Ste. Marie latest hospital in northeast to make cuts

The hospital in Sault Ste. Marie is facing a $10 million budget shortfall and plans to cut 35 full-time jobs and 7-part time jobs. The cuts affect nursing staff, management and other departments. President and CEO of the hospital, Ron Gagnon, said steps are being taken to reduce the number of people losing jobs, even though positions are disappearing.

Plusieurs lits d'hôpital occupés par des aînés en attente d'évaluation

Le nombre de personnes âgées qui demeurent à l'hôpital en attente d'évaluation ou de place dans des foyers de soins au Nouveau-Brunswick demeure élevé. Les aînés en attente de place occupent 24 pour cents des lits, des chiffres semblables à ceux du mois d'octobre dernier. Plusieurs lits d'hôpital sont occupés par des personnes âgées qui devraient être placées dans des foyers de soins.
