13th annual Bethune Roundtable for International Surgery
COA
The 13th annual Bethune Roundtable for International Surgery is being held in Vancouver from May 10-12, 2013. This unique conference brings together surgeons from Canada and from developing countries to discuss issues of surgical care in low resource countries. This event would be of relevance to orthopaedic surgeons with an interest in development work and overseas orthopaedic surgery delivery.
Visit: http://www.internationalsurgery.ubc.ca/2013_bethune.html

Associated with the Bethune Roundtable this year is an instructor’s course on Essential Osteomyelitis Management. Chronic hematogenous osteomyelitis in children and young adults is all-pervasive in lower income countries. This course, sponsored by the Canadian Network for International Surgery, aims to train surgeons to teach practical hands-on surgical skills using low fidelity simulators to first and second-year general and orthopaedic surgery residents in training programs in Africa. This course would be of interest and relevance to orthopaedic surgeons already committed to volunteer work in lesser developed countries, or those who might be interested in becoming engaged in future.
