Graduation Ceremony Honouring R5 Residents

COA members are encouraged to attend a special ceremony honouring the R5 residents who will be completing their Royal College Fellowship Examinations this year. The ceremony will be held during the upcoming Combined AOA and COA Annual Meeting on Friday, June 20 at 12:00. PGY5 Residents will be presented with a certificate by their Program Director and congratulated by the COA Executive. Join us in congratulating the Class of 2014 at this special event.

Tous les membres de l'ACO sont conviés à une cérémonie spéciale en l'honneur des résidents qui passent leur examen au titre d'associé du Collège royal des médecins et chirurgiens du Canada cette année. La cérémonie aura lieu le vendredi 20 juin, à midi, à l'occasion de la Réunion annuelle conjointe de l'AOA et de l'ACO. Les résidents recevront les félicitations de la direction de l'ACO et un certificat des mains de leur directeur de programme. Soyez des nôtres pour féliciter la cohorte de 2014 à cette occasion spéciale.

Keeping Canadians safe: Fighting the online sale of counterfeit, unlicensed pharmaceuticals

For a seventh year, the fight against the online sale of counterfeit and unlicensed pharmaceutical products continues through Operation Pangea. It is the largest Internet-based action of its kind targeting the international black market of illicit pharmaceutical products. At a press conference held in Montreal, INTERPOL-Ottawa, along with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Canada Border Services Agency, unveiled the results of the operation in Canada, sending a strong reminder to the public that counterfeit and unlicensed pharmaceutical products are unsafe and can be fatal.

Communist candidate calls for Ontario health care reform

A Communist Party candidate in Ottawa wants a complete reform of health care, energy and auto insurance across the province and says Ontario is "gradually eliminating" certain health procedures so that private companies can move in and turn a profit on the sick. Larry Wasslen, candidate for Ottawa Centre says the province is on a slippery slope when it comes to health care and if something isn't done quickly, the province will only cater to the "one per cent."

Nova Scotia hospitals to get $7.5 million in upgrades

A number of hospitals across the province will soon be able to cross some items off their wish list. The Department of Health and Wellness announced that hospitals will get $7.5 million in equipment and technology upgrades. New beds, diagnostic and surgical equipment and drug storage systems will go to designated hospitals in need of upgrading.
