De longues heures d'attente avant d'avoir un lit à l'hôpital

Seulement 36,6 pour cent des patients qui se présentent aux urgences obtiennent un lit d'hôpital dans un délai de 10 heures, indique un rapport de la régie de la santé du Fraser dont l'objectif affiché est de 55 pour cent en ce laps de temps. Ses données précisent également qu'en avril 2015 les hôpitaux de la région avaient soigné 528 malades pendant plus de 30 jours, alors que la régie espérait en garder seulement 455 en moyenne.

Untrained and unemployed: Medical schools churning out doctors who can't find residencies and full-time positions

Zerah Lurie is spending the next year as a highly educated, unpaid volunteer: his medical degree from one of Canada's most prestigious universities couldn't get him the training spot he needs to become a family doctor. Michael Brandt found a residency, but when he finished the five years of instruction to qualify as an ear, nose and throat specialist (ENT), he was unable to find a full-time job. And still hasn't four years later.

L'urgence de l'Hôpital Grace a toujours le plus long temps d'attente au pays

Le service d'urgence de l'Hôpital Grace de Winnipeg demeure pour une deuxième année consécutive l'établissement au pays où les patients attendent le plus longtemps, selon un nouveau rapport de l'Institut canadien d'information sur la santé. Le document dévoilé mercredi présente une compilation de différentes informations en vertu de la performance de 1000 établissements de soins de longue durée.
