9. Change in regulations to protect consumers from high-pressure selling
Sept. 3, 2013: Consumers could in future be given 90 days to cancel a contract and receive a full refund if they have been pressured or bullied into buying a product or service, under laws to give protection against misleading and aggressive sales practices.
8. Trump Tower hotel-condo dispute expands in Toronto

Sept. 3, 2013: Less than 20 per cent of hotel-condo buyers in the year-old Trump International Hotel and Tower in Toronto have closed on their units, due to a long-running dispute with the developer, the Toronto Star reports.
7. Famous resorts for sale

June 27, 2013: After 20 years of operating resorts in Fiji, the McGrath family is preparing to sell both Sonaisali Island Resort and Tadrai Island Resort. The sale is by an international expressions of interest campaign through Colliers International Hotels, CBRE Hotels and The Professionals West Realty.
6. Owners of Fairmont timeshares face dilemma
July 31, 2013: More than 15,000 timeshare holders are being asked to pay thousands of dollars to either renovate the complex or vacate their timeshares in Fairmont, British Columbia. Tina and Matt Balsom say they were never thrilled with the Sunchaser Vacation Villa they purchased in Fairmont four years ago for $11,000.
5. Another development proposed for Lakeshore Road
Mar. 14, 2013: A new major development proposed for an area on Lakeshore Road has received first reading approval by Kelowna City Council. Edmonton based Westcorp is looking to build everything from apartments, to townhouses and even a hotel ranging in size from three stories to 11 stories tall.
4. Collingwood looks at casino resort
Feb. 28, 2013: Collingwood, ON, could hit the jackpot. The town doesn't seem keen on supporting a stand-alone 300 slot machine facility but council appears willing to look at an integrated resort casino. Collingwood CAO Ed Houghton made a presentation and brought forward the idea of a resort.
3. Saskatoon man with B.C. timeshare frustrated over fees
Mar. 14, 2013: Saskatoon's Alan Wilson thought he'd found a bargain when he took over a 40-year lease at a timeshare resort in Fairmont Hot Springs, B.C. What he was getting when he signed 13 years ago was a beautifully appointed suite at Fairmont Vacation Villas for one week every year.
2. Timeshare owner alert: Be wary of timeshare scams in Mexico
Mar. 28, 2013: Attorney General Gary King is warning about an increase in fraudulent activity involving solicitation of New Mexicans to sell their timeshares in Mexico. In one scheme, timeshare owners are contacted by scammers posing as sales representatives from timeshare resale companies.

June 20, 2013: When Robert Burk received a phone call from Timeshare Mega Media in 2009 about selling his Lake Tahoe timeshare, the electronics engineer jumped at the opportunity. "I was unemployed at the time, and they offered to resell it for $22,000," said Burke who originally purchased the $14,000 timeshare in exchange for one week in the condo every other year.
