Bloomberg: Canada second best country in the world for doing business
Buzz Buzz
Canada has overtaken the US and is now the number two country in the world for doing business, according to Bloomberg's third annual ranking. Canada ranked sixth in 2013, but managed to jump four spots this year "largely because of the receptivity of its consumers, measured by the size of its middle class, household consumption and GDP per capita," Bloomberg said. Weather, weaker loonie have Brits flocking to Alberta resorts
Calgary Herald
Despite a spotty start to the ski season for locals, British ski tourists are flocking to Alberta and B.C. resorts rather than their European rivals. U.K. tour operator Canadian Affair is reporting a 40 per cent increase this season, attributing the rise to better early season conditions than in Europe and favourable exchange rates. Although Europe's snow is accumulating now, it was the early start that gave Canada the edge, according to Michael Brabin, senior product and purchasing manager for Crystal Ski.

'Currency surcharge' added to winter vacation packages
Vancouver Sun
The rapid decline of the Canadian dollar has prompted several travel tour operators to implement a new "currency surcharge" for packaged vacations this winter. The loonie was trading at its lowest level in six years at just below 90 cents compared to the U.S. dollar. It closed at 90.10 cents U.S., a four-and-a-half year low. This has prompted tour operators, like Air Canada Vacations, Transat A.T., and Sunwing Vacations to introduce a new charge aimed at recouping some of the costs they incur in U.S. dollars, including hotels and fuel.
