Help CRDA Create A Vibrant 2014 Conference

CRDA's 2014 conference will be held in Toronto on September 23-25. The association's mandate is to broaden our reach beyond vacation ownership to include all types of resorts. As part of achieving that goal, we are branding our event the "Canadian Resort Conference (CRC)." Our intention is to make CRC fresh, vibrant and most importantly, relevant by "Exploring the Business of Vacations".

CIBC Poll: Canadians escaping the cold for March Break vacations

A new CIBC poll conducted by Vision Critical finds that winter-weary Canadians looking to escape this year's record-cold temperatures plan to spend an average of about $2,300 on their March Break vacations. More than half of those travelling (56 per cent) will be vacationing outside of Canada.

February saw a rebound in Canadian housing starts, but banks believe moderation is coming

While Canadian housing starts faltered in January due to a particularly nasty cold snap, the CMHC recently reported on stronger February numbers. Nation-wide, starts were trending at 192,236 units last month, up from 191,513 in January. The trend is a six-month moving average of the monthly seasonally adjusted annual rates (SAAR) of housing starts.

Missouri AG Koster sues two travel clubs

Attorney General Chris Koster announced today he has sued two travel-club companies for deceiving consumers about the benefits of memberships. In one suit, Koster sued Anytime Vacations in Taney County Circuit Court. Koster's suit alleges that Anytime Vacations promised consumers discounts on airfare, hotel accommodations, cruises, and other travel benefits for joining its travel club and paying fees of hundreds and even thousands of dollars. After joining, however, consumers found the "discounts" were nonexistent, and that they could get better deals going through standard, free services such as Travelocity and Orbitz.
