2014 Canadian Resort Conference Confirmed For Toronto

The Canadian Resort Conference will be held 23-24 September 2014 at Pantages, a Skyline Hotel that is just steps away from Downtown Toronto's art, entertainment and shopping districts, and is considered among the leading boutique hotels in the city. The annual conference, which alternates between locations in Eastern and Western Canada, will be extended from the previous one day format into a two day event comprising of a half day networking activity and a day and a half of debates and educational sessions, providing invaluable opportunities to spend time exploring business opportunities with Canadian and International attendees.

The Government of Canada to offer 'Express Entry' to qualified economic immigrants

Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander recently announced that Canada's active recruitment model for economic immigration will officially be called "Express Entry." Set to launch in January 2015, "Express Entry" is a major step forward in the transformation of Canada's immigration system into one that is fast, flexible and focused on meeting Canada's economic and labour needs. "Express Entry" will allow for greater flexibility and better responsiveness to deal with regional labour shortages, and help fill open jobs for which there are not available Canadian workers.

Mack-Cali sells Wyndham Worldwide HQ in Parsippany for $96.6 million

Mack-Cali Realty sold the building housing the headquarters of international hotel operator Wyndham Worldwide to Griffin Capital for $96.6 million, or about $387 per square foot. In addition to the sales price, Griffin is assuming responsibility of roughly $7 million in future tenant improvement and commission obligations.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, has reported first quarter 2014 financial results. First Quarter 2014 Highlights Excluding special items, EPS from continuing operations was $0.63. Including special items, EPS from continuing operations was $0.71. Adjusted EBITDA was $281 million. Excluding special items, income from continuing operations was $122 million. Including special items, income from continuing operations was $136 million.

Big Sky Resort closes the winter season with another year of record breaking skier visitation at 473,000, up seven and a half per cent over the previous year with the combined Moonlight Basin.
