2014 Canadian Resort Conference Confirmed For Toronto
The Canadian Resort Conference will be held 23-24 September 2014 at Pantages, a Skyline Hotel that is just steps away from Downtown Toronto's art, entertainment and shopping districts, and is considered among the leading boutique hotels in the city. New visa program to make it faster for Mexicans to visit Canada
The federal government is making it easier for some Mexicans to travel to Canada, but will not scrap a controversial visa requirement that has led to a strained relationship between the two countries. Mexican nationals who have travelled to Canada or the United States within the last 10 years will be eligible for expedited visa processing. The program will speed up visa processing for an estimated 50 per cent of Mexican nationals travelling to Canada, Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander said.
Talisman Resort in Ontario has been sold
The Talisman Resort in Grey Highlands, ON, is getting a new lease on life.
The resort closed in 2011 and was falling into disrepair. The Township of Grey Highlands took over the property after previous efforts to find a buyer failed. Recently, they announced that a buyer has been found.
The new ownership group, which is headed by Brian Ellis, is promising to develop it into a hotel and spa resort with a convention centre. The group also says it will renovate the main lodge of the resort as well as rooms on the property.

Architect pioneers shared ownership of hotel property
A Nairobi-based architect has set out to build a budget hotel in the outskirts of the city, which will be sold to investors on a fractional ownership basis.
The fractional ownership model allows several buyers to own high-value assets such as property in set proportions. Costs and access are shared proportionately as well.
The model is gaining popularity in the country and has been successfully tested on holiday homes at the Coast.

Diamond Resorts International announces closing of $470 million credit facility

Diamond Resorts International has announced the closing of its previously announced $470 million senior secured credit facility with Credit Suisse AG, as administrative agent and collateral agent, which includes a $445 million term loan issued with 0.50 per cent of original issue discount and a $25 million revolving line of credit. Borrowings under the New Credit Facility bear interest, at Diamond's option, at a variable rate equal to LIBOR plus 450 basis points, with a one percent LIBOR floor applicable only to the term loan, or an alternate base rate plus 350 basis points.
TripAdvisor gas acquired Vacation Home Rentals

TripAdvisor announced it has acquired Vacation Home Rentals, a Massachusetts-based vacation rentals website. Vacation Home Rentals features more than 14,000 properties around the world.

In addition, ILG will acquire Hyatt's interest in a joint venture that owns and is developing a 131-unit vacation ownership property in Maui, and will reimburse Hyatt an additional approximately $35 million, representing Hyatt's contributions to the joint venture through the transaction’s anticipated closing date.
