Given that the SHOT Show covers 700,000 square feet of floor space devoted to every type of hunting and shooting equipment known to man, it's virtually impossible to see everything there is to see. Though the authors are going to try to do just that, they thought they'd take a shortcut by asking some of the retailers who are shopping the show for their customers. After all, the purpose behind the SHOT Show is to allow manufacturers to display their wares for the coming year to dealers. More

The Labrador retriever is one of America's most popular gun dogs, cherished as a family pet as well as a retriever of waterfowl and a flusher of upland game birds. The occasional Lab performs yeoman crossover duties. Near Nocona, Texas, Matt Brown has a pointing Lab that hunts liberated quail, chukars and pheasants as well as any pointing dog. In Sublette, Kan., Jeff White uses a pointing Lab to pinpoint, then flush, pheasants hiding in dense cover. More

Firearms Freedom Act promises something politicians are not able to deliver
Atlanta Gun Rights Examiner    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Ed Stone has to point out the obvious for anybody who has researched the case law pertaining to the Commerce Clause. Fellow Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea and Cleveland Gun Rights Examiner Daniel White have published articles praising the Montana Firearms Freedom Act and a recent lawsuit filed in federal court to enforce it against the federal government and Attorney General Eric Holder. The lawsuit filed by the Montana Shooting Sports Association and the Second Amendment Foundation is an excellent fundraising tool, but it is destined to fail. More importantly, the lawsuit draws money and attention away from real struggles for the right to bear arms that can actually make a difference. More

This season for the birds
The Houston Chronicle    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Texas' waterfowl hunting seasons in the eastern half of Texas now closed, a lot of duck hunters will be bummed out; they've had a decent year and hunting success is holding up pretty well even at the end of it thanks to a strong continental duck population, good reproduction this past summer and a wet winter that created plenty of habitat to hold and support birds wintering in Texas.
