Dallas Safari Club to enforce zero tolerance
Share   Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
This week, Dallas Safari Club learned of allegations that certain outfitters exhibiting at sporting shows and expos across the U.S. are offering "child sex tourism" as part of their international hunting and fishing excursions. DSC announced today that it will aggressively enforce zero tolerance for those participating in these types of activities.

Outfitters shown to be involved will be banned from DSC membership and all club events.

"Our club has a well-established track record of banning outfitters for hunting ethics violations, but this deplorable activity goes beyond ethics and into criminal liability. Dallas Safari Club will not stand by while human decency is assaulted, either at home or abroad. I cannot overstate our condemnation of this appalling exploitation of minors," said Ben Carter, DSC executive director.

Carter said DSC will continue to support ethical guides and outfitters, legitimate hunters and anglers—and the outdoor industry as a whole—for their invaluable worth to global conservation.

About Dallas Safari Club Desert bighorns on an unbroken landscape, stalking Cape buffalo in heavy brush, students discovering conservation. DSC works to guarantee a future for all these and much more. An independent organization since 1982, DSC has become an international leader in conserving wildlife and wilderness lands, educating youth and the general public, and promoting and protecting the rights and interests of hunters worldwide. Seeing loose gun laws as still too tight
The New York Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Arizona's permissive gun laws gained national attention last year when a man openly carried an AR-15 rifle to a protest outside a speech by President Obama. Now, gun rights advocates are hoping for even fewer restrictions on where they can have a firearm. Among their top goals is to make Arizona the third state where it is legal to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. More

The Houston Chronicle    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
For the first time in who-knows-when, Texas hunters and anglers won't have to familiarize themselves with a laundry list of new hunting and fishing regulations later this year. But those who hunt game birds — quail, turkey and doves, specifically — could be looking at potential rules changes a year or so from now if policy makers act on the results of a recent survey of Texas bird hunters. Latest legal news: The new face of the Second Amendment
The Daily Finance    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The key issue in the latest gun rights case is whether the Second Amendment applies to the individual states; if it does, it's because of the 14th Amendment, passed after the Civil War to prevent states from infringing the rights of the newly freed slaves. Deciding another recent landmark gun case, Justice Antonin Scalia cited that history. More
