In the men's competition, Kim Meen-whee, who is currently ranked 147th in the world, led the way on a 15-under-par total of 273. The 18-year-old double-gold-medallist shot rounds of 69, 68, 67 and 69 around Guangzhou Province's par-72 Dragon Lake Golf Club to claim victory by a remarkable nine strokes.More

At No. 12, I see Iowa. At No. 14 sits San Diego State. Then going far down the list, there is Oregon at No. 41 and Arizona State at No. 38. USGA Members Program founder Jemison dies

Elbert S. Jemison Jr., a former USGA Executive Committee member who helped start the Association's Members Program 35 years ago, died last week in his hometown of Birmingham, Ala., at the age of 90. No information was available on the cause of death. A successful insurance agent and amateur golfer, Jemison was appointed to the USGA Executive Committee in 1970 and served for eight years. When Jemison assumed the role of treasurer in 1975, he recognized the USGA’s need to broaden its revenue streams. More

Cody Proveaux prevails at Polo Golf Junior Classic

Cody Proveaux of Leesville, S.C., bested Michael Kim of Del Mar, Calif., 4 and 3 in the championship match of the Polo Golf Junior Classic to claim his first AJGA victory. The Polo Golf Junior Classic, which has been conducted annually since 1978, marks the first tournament of the American Junior Golf Association's 2011 season. The 156-player invitation-only field was made up of 78 boys and 78 girls, ages 12-18, from 26 states and 10 foreign countries.More

Mahan, Sorenstam named AJGA National Chairmen

Hunter Mahan and Annika Sorenstam have been named the new National Chairmen for the American Junior Golf Association. They have been given the honor based on their high involvement with AJGA tournaments, as well as the ACE Grant program. Former National Chairmen include Phil Mickelson, Vicki Goetze-Ackerman, Justin Leonard, Davis Love III, Betsy Rawls, Ben Crenshaw and Tom Watson.More
