More than 200 coaches were attending this year's convention – the most ever – and the Hall of Fame dinner attracted some 350 attendees, also a GCAA record. Working on their annual Newsmakers issue, college golf writer Ryan Herrington got to revisit Augusta State's improbable victory at last June's NCAA Championship. The Board of the International Golf Federation has named Peter Dawson as IGF President and Ty Votaw as IGF Vice President. Both appointments are for two-year terms commencing on Jan. 1. Dawson, Chief Executive of The R&A, has served as Joint Secretary of the IGF since 1999. Votaw, an Executive Vice President at the PGA TOUR, served as Executive Director of the IGF Olympic Golf Committee, which coordinated golf's Olympic bid, from July 2008 until Nov. 1, 2010. In October 2009, the bid process culminated in the International Olympic Committee voting golf and rugby sevens on to the program of Olympic sports commencing in 2016. Marywood University Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Mary Jo Gunning has announced the appointment of Eric Grundman as the school's first head men's golf coach. Men's golf will be added as Marywood's 17th varsity sport for the fall of 2011. Grundman is currently in his 10th season as head men's basketball coach and Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation at Marywood. He has served five years coordinating the school's club golf program. More
Bramlett has a dream, takes an inspiring step at Q-School San Jose Mercury News Share ![]() ![]() ![]()
Three years after Joseph Bramlett won a national championship with the Stanford men's golf team, he ran the 252-hole gantlet of PGA Qualifying School, surviving all three stages to earn his tour card by two shots earlier this week. Bramlett is the first African American to advance through Q-School since Adrian Stills did it 25 years ago. More
The TJGT Traditions Invitational TJGT Share ![]() ![]() ![]()
The TJGT Traditions Invitational was played at the Traditions at Texas A&M Golf Course in College Station, Texas, on Dec. 11-12. All Boys 12-18 played 6,955 yards and all Girls 12-18 played 5,920 yards in this 36-hole, Golfweek-ranked event that saw college coaches scouting the 112 players that came from Mexico, Australia,
New Zealand, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana to play in this prestigious event.
