Land dispute threatens construction of Olympic golf course
USA Today Share
A land dispute is threatening construction of the golf course for the 2016 Summer Games, when the sport is to be played at the Olympics for the first time since 1904. Rio de Janeiro officials might have to find a new site, meaning the project would start from scratch and possibly not be ready on time for test events in 2015. The city said in response to the Associated Press that it had just became aware of the situation and is "evaluating the measures it will take." More

Courses in good shape after winter
The Miami Herald

There are a lot of genius superintendents walking around South Florida golf courses these days. This winter was as mild as they come and courses came out of it in prime shape as the spring/summer season heats up. Golf's toughest job perfect match for NCC's Hollick
The Nashua Telegraph
Share

Golf's toughest job, is also its most thankless. Wanting to be a golf course superintendent, considering all that is involved, is almost unfathomable. Still, many people are drawn to it, much like farming; it's for the love of the job. Despite that rather negative depiction of the superintendent's job, there are some good situations to be had, and Class A GCSAA member Greg Hollick recently landed one at Nashua (N.H.) Country Club.

Not only was the summer-like spring fact not fiction, but such trends may soon become the new normal as climate change takes greater hold.
