In 2012, the Federal Geographic Data Committee requested advice regarding a National Address Database from the National Geospatial Advisory Committee. The NGAC formed a National Address Database subcommittee to study and analyze these issues. The subcommittee's findings were approved by the NGAC on Dec. 3, and the recommendations were forwarded to the FGDC. More

A GPS advocacy group has urged the Federal Communications Commission, as it considers expansion of terrestrial use of the mobile satellite spectrum adjacent to GPS, to recognize that expansion "not come at the expense of critical GPS services." The FCC is considering a request by LightSquared to modify its ancillary terrestrial component authority, and the company is petitioning the FCC to revise its rules regarding LightSquared's terrestrial use of its MSS spectrum.
