As the volume of learning content explodes, how do we guide learners to make good choices? How do we ensure that fast content, like fast food, has the nutritional ingredients that the human mind, like the human body, needs? How do we avoid empty calories and wasted time spent searching for relevant material? How can we engineer the fastest path to expertise and avoid cognitive overload?

Templates are to instructions as blueprints are to architects, as recipes are to bakers, and as patterns are to knitters. The template is a set of instructions. While some instructional designers disparage the use of pre-designed templates — who hasn’t seen dozens of PowerPoint presentations or Storyline courses with the same colour scheme or design — templates are a great starting point for designing professional, appealing eLearning courses.
Talent is not always easy to come by in today’s job market. With employers pulling out all the stops to attract the best candidates, from speeding up the hiring process to personalizing job offers, every new hire might feel like a win. However, your efforts to prove your company is a great place to work should not end once an offer is accepted. If you want to keep your employees around, you need to show that you have made an investment in their careers by offering strong professional development.
