The Institute for Performance and Learning in conjunction with Steve Blane, an award-winning training consultant and instructional designer, is pleased to announce the launch of the Certificates in Performance and Learning Competencies. Steve has designed these courses to cover the seven performance and learning competency areas that have been identified by I4PL as the essential knowledge and skill areas for a professional in performance and learning. Steve previously worked as a facilitator for the Master Certificate in Adult Training and Development at the Schulich School of Business and now we are able to offer the I4PL Certificate courses consisting of four three-day intensive courses in Toronto and Ottawa, beginning in September 2019. Each of these four intensive courses will cover one or more competency areas and passing an individual course will earn the learner a Certificate in that competency area or areas. Passing all four courses earns the learner the Master Certificate of Performance and Learning Competencies (MCPLC). Many graduates of the MCPLC will choose to apply to the CTDP certification program after completing the courses. MCPLC graduates are given a credit of one year toward the work experience requirement of the CTDP certification program. For more information, visit the I4PL website.

| || 2019 Conference — Speaker Spotlight|
We are pleased to announce that Edmond Mellina is a speaker at I4PL’s National Conference.
Tracks: Leading a Business Focused L&D Team
Session Title: Transform Your Organization and its Corporate Culture While Executing the Strategy
Session Description: In our increasingly digital world, corporate transformation has become a top imperative across sectors. To succeed with the challenge, it is critical to work on three tightly-integrated thrusts:
1. Strategic / business planning & execution;
2. Leadership & change capability building; and
3. Culture change — which is the thrust around which everything else evolves.
The L&D function has a unique opportunity to play a critical, integrative role on these thrusts — hence adding tremendous value to the organization, and being seen as such by the C-suite.
This workshop will be highly engaging and interactive. You will devise pragmatic ways to play a bigger role in making your organization “future-ready.” Edmond will fuel and guide your reflection by drawing on his rich international experience executing challenging corporate transformations.
Learn with a respected expert in the field how you can raise your game and earn a seat at the table!
National webinars are always free for members and $50 +tax for non-members.
These events count towards 1 credit
hour each for certification maintenance.
Please note that there are two steps in the registration process. First, you are required to register on the I4PL website and then the second step is to register on the ZOOM platform. The second step will be sent to you 48 hours before the webinar that will then send a confirmation email with the dial-in instructions. For questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org

Training Industry Magazine
How do you convince stakeholders to create or expand a customer training program? While training and customer success departments understand the importance of customer training and the value it provides, it can be difficult to communicate it to stakeholders. Making a solid business case for a customer training program is the key to approval.
HR Exchange Network
“The current landscape of learning is fragmented, unclear and difficult to navigate.”
Casper Moerck is the head of learning technology and digitization for Americas at Siemens. Additionally, Moerck has joined the speaking faculty for HR Exchange Live: Corporate Learning. Produced by the HR Exchange Network, this is the second year for the premiere online event focused on the topic of learning.
Learning Solutions Magazine
Like the fabled Hydra, the myth returns each time learning professionals think they have it beat. Whether garbed as learning styles or personality inventories, the idea that matching learning content to each learner’s “type” is the most effective way to teach keeps coming back. Attempts to personalize learning to make it more effective are laudable, but personalization does not require designing special learning materials for each different personality type.
