|Strategic Priorities Update
About a month ago, the I4PL National Office reported on the work the Board has been doing to define strategic priorities and actions, in line with the renewed I4PL Purpose Statement. As you recall, there are four directions for the strategic priorities and one of these is Courses & Professional Development. During the consultations through the Thoughtexchange platform earlier this year, our members expressed to us that they would like to see a balance of offerings in the urban centres with online offerings to make professional development available to all members and they would like to see increasing focus on skills development based on the Competencies for Performance and Learning Professionals. Members would also like to see more information about these enhanced offerings.
We are pleased to report that, in addition to the online From Paper to Practice workshops, which run through to December 2019, we have also launched the Certificates in Performance and Learning Competencies, in partnership with a team of expert facilitators led by Steve Blane, an award-winning performance consultant and learning experience designer. These four courses cover the seven I4PL performance and learning competency areas and will be offered in Toronto and Ottawa, initially. The first of the three-day certificate courses — Designing Learning Experiences — will be offered in Ottawa on September 18-20 and Facilitating Learning will be offered in Toronto on September 25-27. All four courses will be available in both cities on specified dates between September to December 2019. Together with the I4PL library of over 30 webinars on performance and learning topics available to our members, the current PD represents a good offering of foundational skills. Future strategic actions in this priority area will move toward looking at options for additional skills development and post-learning support and as of January 2020, the Certificate courses in Digital Learning will begin.

Track: Managing Change for Results
Session Title: Psychological Safety — A Simple Look at How to Create a Workplace Where We Can Be Ourselves
Session Description: Shape an organization worth working for. Imagine a workplace where employees come to work with the belief and knowledge that they will not be punished or humiliated for speaking up. This would lead to better retention, more engagement, innovation, inclusion, and ultimately better results.
"If I believe my boss and organization care for me, I’ll give it my all."
C.A.R.E™ is a simple model of logical leadership and a set of daily leader habits that creates psychological safety. Through our contemporary learning approach, we create safe spaces that allow leaders to self-discover their current reality, stripping away technical expertise, and focusing on leadership behaviors. Today’s talent pool is a
demanding one. If you want the best, your organization has to be its best with leadership that puts people first. This session includes 4 mini experiential activities designed to show how our natural habits contradicts treating people like humans.
National webinars are always free for members and $50 +tax for non-members.
These events count towards 1 credit
hour each for certification maintenance.
Please note that there are two steps in the registration process. First, you are required to register on the I4PL website and then the second step is to register on the ZOOM platform. The second step will be sent to you 48 hours before the webinar that will then send a confirmation email with the dial-in instructions. For questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
To view complete event descriptions, please go to the Events Page.
| || Performance and Learning in the News|
Imagine a platform that enabled you to access local and national opportunities from your smartphone or computer, a place where you can pursue your interests with mentors and peers, building new skills and habits wherever you are, whenever you want.
LRNG, now part of Southern New Hampshire University, extends access to learning experiences to underserved youth. The learning is responsive, often in community, part of a lean social economy — an example of the four trends that will emerge in the coming decade.
These "next trends" build on mega trends, emerging trends and adjacent trends in global learning.
HR Exchange Network
Learning continues to present challenges for human resources and learning professionals.
The workforce does not resemble what it once did. More and more millennials are filling out the employee ranks with the next generation, Generation Z, right on their coat tails.
