| || 2019 Conference — Speaker Spotlight|
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Robin Yap, CTDP, is a speaker at I4PL’s National Conference.
Track: Performance Consulting and Instructional Design
Session Title: Designing Multi-Cultural Social and Behaviour-Based Content Results in Increased Knowledge Retention Beyond Traditional Intervention Metrics
Session Description: We’ve all seen measurement models of diminishing knowledge retention due to time and type of intervention. What if I tell you that you can design content that will increase knowledge retention over 62% six months post-intervention and address your company’s need to increase learner engagement of your multi-generational and multi-culturally rich organization? Traditionally, this is less than 25%. Wouldn’t you want to know how to design behaviour-based content that links to your company's current challenges? From the neuroscience of boredom, jadedness, and annoyance to social interaction and technology-to-human competency-based learning activities. You will get new tools resulting from a four-year study of over 2150 learners, including ethnographic research supported by a federal grant on Canadian newcomers with advanced degrees and how they learn in the workplace. Result: A new toolkit from a highly interactive session, a way to upcycle your existing toolsets, and a fresh perspective on why we are motivated to learn in the first place, designed to show how our natural habits contradict treating people like humans.
National webinars are always free for members and $50 +tax for non-members.
These events count towards 1 credit
hour each for certification maintenance.
Please note that there are two steps in the registration process. First, you are required to register on the I4PL website and then the second step is to register on the ZOOM platform. The second step will be sent to you 48 hours before the webinar that will then send a confirmation email with the dial-in instructions. For questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org

Education World (commentary)
Dr. Tisha Shipley, a contributor for Education World, writes: "As teachers, we are lifelong learners that want to be the best we can be. In my opinion, we are always changing, learning and want to do what is right for the students we teach. I always tell my students that I am a mentor, guide, cheerleader and co-learner. As you approach another new course with students that are needing you to give them your all, what will you do to ensure that you are being innovative and show your students that teaching is your passion?"
Inside Higher Ed
The world of digital learning is amazing. There is no end of challenges in working at the intersection of technology and education. But does the word “digital” in digital learning pigeonhole the work and the people in it?
Learning Solutions Magazine
One of the biggest challenges we face in e-learning is how we manage, maintain, update and enhance content based on the needs of our audience. If we think of a typical course, it is often made up of a series of topics within a module. In the past, the majority of our content was delivered in courses. One of the hurdles with courses is that the content within is not searchable; in addition, learners are unable to link to the content directly.
Attracting talent is a task on the top of HR professionals' to-do lists these days. Job seekers, particularly young workers, know their worth and they're looking for organizations that know it as well — so to attract talent, opportunity has to be obvious, both in the short-term and the long-term.
Training Industry Magazine
Creating easy-to-consume and accessible e-learning is the need of the hour. If you are planning on revamping your online training for a modern audience, here are some elements to keep in mind.
