| || Performance & Learning Month|
Happy Performance & Learning Month! We’re thrilled to be learning how workplaces are celebrating performance and learning throughout the month of September.
Municipalities across the Canada are recognizing the significance of Performance & Learning Month! This week, Mayor of Calgary, Naheed Nenshi, sent us his well wishes and a Letter of Recognition! Read it here.
Performance & Learning Month celebrates and promotes the importance of workplace performance and learning to key stakeholders and the public-at-large. It showcases what members and non-members are doing to champion performance and learning in their workplace. I4PL has a deep history in its Learn @ Work Week activities that have evolved into a month-long celebration.
| || Learning Leader Spotlight - Kristine Lalonde|
Nominated by Rebekah Veerasammy
We want to nominate Kristine Lalonde, our Senior Manager of Learning and Development at HOOPP. We consider Kristine a leader in Learning and Development for the following reasons:
- Kristine is always curious and leads the way for our team in learning. She provides us with learning opportunities beyond traditional classroom workshops. She does the same for the wider organization by recognizing that learning happens 24/7 in a variety of ways and has made strides to track and enable that variety at HOOPP.
- She is an advocate for leadership coaching within HOOPP. She coaches me and mentors me on a weekly basis, with an emphasis on my development as a learning professional and as a HOOPP employee. With her guidance and coaching I have seen my own professional growth.

In any product or service, you need to listen to, understand and capture the voice of the customer. Doing it is critical to how well the customer’s needs are met, and despite a multitude of methodologies, approaches, tools and techniques – many endeavours fall short of properly capturing the full set of customer needs. This webinar provides a preview into the newly designed course about capturing and understanding the Voice of the Customer (VOC) in product development. Watch Here

| || Performance and Learning in the News|
Performance reviews, long the backbone of performance management, are shifting. They're becoming more frequent and more flexible, and that shift is in no small part thanks to technology. But this also means that employers have a lot of options from which to choose. The key, experts say, is careful evaluation and thoughtful implementation.
Competition today has seen lean, business-savvy organisations that use digital resources to their advantage as the major competitive differentiators. Take a look at how to achieve better, faster and agiler work when using Looop for your compliance training.
Content curation is not a new phenomenon. For decades, employees have attempted to collect and sort information, and management has sought to derive associated quantitative business value — largely to no avail. The challenge has always been how to separate the signal from the noise or, in other words, the actionable two per cent from the rest. But how do you meet that challenge? Insight curation may be the answer.
Learning Solutions Magazine
Preventing biased and harassing behavior is the goal of much e-Learning — many companies require that managers or all employees complete some form of harassment-prevention training at regular intervals. Yet much of this e-Learning is ineffective.
Training Industry Magazine
At the entrance to the Temple of Apollo in Delphi was the inscription, "Know thyself." Those two simple words form the beginning and most important element of emotional intelligence. One of the key lessons we learn in this area is self-knowledge about how we react when where are stressed and triggered. This knowledge is especially important for trainers, as we are normally standing in the front of a room with attendees' eyes (hopefully) fixed on us.
