Do you have a dream? Take a cue from Baby Boomers who have made learning a valuable tool for achieving their professional and personal goals. It was 20 years before Mark Ventola, now a sergeant with the North Brunswick Police Department, fulfilled a promise to his parents to return to college. In 1979, he left Indiana State University to realize his dream to become a police officer. His studies were put aside until 1999, when he resumed his college career, earning a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Caldwell College, followed by a master's in human resources training and development from Seton Hall University. Maureen Malcolm is a good person to have at a cocktail party. She can chat people up about the archeology of the American Southwest, the psycho-logical anatomy of trauma and even what women's shoes from various eras tell us about the culture of the time. Malcolm, 69, is a wealth of knowledge, partly because she has been taking classes at Simon Fraser University's continuing studies program for seniors ever since she retired nine years ago.
