"Keep your insurance policies close and your insurance broker closer"... is a good rule when on show site. As an event organizer, you need to be prepared for anything. If things happen that could be covered by insurance, the best bet is to call your insurance broker first. When your insurance broker gets called in after the fact, it may cause unnecessary headaches for all parties, especially the organizer.

PeopleVisionFX Creates 'Worldwide Store' for ASC

PeopleVisionFX has created a unique trade show exhibit for the U.S. Army Sustainment Command (ASC) for the Association of the United States Army annual meeting in Washington. The display, called the ASC Worldwide Store, provided the audience with a highly interactive introduction to the missions of the Army Sustainment Command. By positioning ASC as the "storefront to the soldier," the display depicted a mission that involves high-visibility issues, global programs and the absolute requirement to support soldiers, civilians and families.

Gary Sain Remembered as the 'Can Do' Leader of Visit Orlando

Tributes poured into Orlando from throughout the exhibition industry after Gary Sain, the respected head of the city's convention and visitors bureau, died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack 4 May at the age of 61. As president and CEO of Visit Orlando since 2007, Sain and his team positioned the Florida city and its massive Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) as a vibrant host city for not only large-scale trade shows but the many smaller specialized events that were also the bread and butter of its business.

AIBTM Announces 54 New Exhibitors for 2012

The Americas Meetings & Events Exhibition (AIBTM) has announced that there are 54 new exhibitors presenting at AIBTM 2012, Reed Travel Exhibitions' premier provider for the U.S. meetings and events industry. The three-day networking event, held 19-21 June in Baltimore, will feature a full day of education, followed by two days of exhibition trade show.

After a 12-year stint at the Consumer Electronic Association (CEA), Ryan Strowger, CEM will join the International Association for Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) as vice president, exhibitions, conferences and sales later this month. Most recently, Strowger served as director, business development, for CEA, producer of the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which ranked No. 1 on the TSE Gold 100 in 2011.

Offshore Technology Conference, Coverings See Double-Digit Attendee Increases

Optimism on the show floors from wide-ranging industries continues to abound with two more shows — the Offshore Technology Conference and Coverings — both posting substantial increases in attendance and other metrics. The Offshore Technology Conference, held 30 April - 3 May at Reliant Park in Houston drew a 30-year high attendance of 89,400, the third highest in show history and up 14 percent from last year.
