The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth is a versatile destination in northern Georgia for concerts, religious and civic gatherings, conventions and tradeshows. Additionally, the 13,000-seat venue is home to a pair of local professional ice hockey and arena football teams and host to numerous college and high-school sporting events and functions. The facility, completed in 2003, has state-of-the-art technical features, including a reduction system that can easily downsize the space for groups as small as 3,500 people. USF creates environmental footprint at newly renovated Sun Dome

The University of South Florida, the USF Athletics Department and Global Spectrum, operators of the newly renovated USF Sun Dome, are making their environmental footprint throughout the construction process as small as possible. With USF's colors being green and gold, there is no better thing to do but keep it green. As of the end of February, building contractor Skanska had recycled 92.1 percent of the materials removed from the site. More

In a move to make educational content available 24 hours a day, anywhere on the globe, IAVM partnered with MultiView to capture content at the Performing Arts Managers Conference, held in February in New York City. "The content captured was second to none with the help of our PAMC programming committee," said Dr. Rodney Williams, IAVM vice president of education. "The committee pulled together some of the top subject matter experts in our performing arts community," he said. For the first time, PAMC attendees will be able to revisit presentations and view concurrent sessions they missed on-site. More

Severe Weather Preparedness Course draws attendees from all facets of venue operations

"Don't say it can't ever happen to me." Those words were echoed over and over during the IAVM/AVSS Severe Weather Preparedness and Planning for Public Assembly Venues and Events specialized course, held Feb. 28-29 at the National Weather Center in Norman, Okla. Nearly 50 participants attended the course from a variety of professions related to the public assembly venue management industry, including event operations, security, production, emergency management, legal counsel, and fire protection. From comments overheard "in the halls," the program appeared to exceed the expectations of many in attendance. More
