British enterprise is retraining its sights on overseas growth following the shock of the credit crunch and global economic recession. Many of this country's small and medium-sized businesses have identified international expansion as the way forward and are ready to beat a path to business opportunities all over the globe to increase competitiveness and seek out new markets. One hundred prizes of business travel for a year were offered to SMEs to help them use face-to-face contact to grow their companies in the current economic climate. More

Berlin-based fashion trade events Premium and Bread & Butter -- running concurrently to Berlin Fashion Week January 20 - 23 -- recorded a rise in visitor figures, leaving organizers in a euphoric mood. Urban trade fair Bread & Butter, in its second Berlin season since its return from Barcelona, welcomed visitors from more than a hundred countries, according to its organizers, stating that "a considerably greater number of professional visitors found their way to Berlin, the internationality could once again be increased." LVCVA seeks dismissal of lawsuit to stop smoking at tobacco shows

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is asking a Carson City District Court to dismiss a lawsuit aimed at preventing smoking at tobacco shows, claiming the society does not have standing to sue. The complaint seeks to revise the law so it addresses only stalking. More

The convention business is booming in Boston, with more events scheduled over the next three years than ever before, according to the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority. The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center and the Hynes Convention Center are nearly sold out through 2012, with 139 trade shows and conventions expected to generate 1.7 million hotel room nights -- defined as one room occupied one night -- and $1.25 billion in overall economic impact. As room rates in Las Vegas, Nev. continue to lag behind the national average, many meeting and event coordinators find appealing rates that won't bust the budget. However, lower rates don’t mean the quality has pulled a lounge-magician vanishing act.
