Many b-to-b businesses are ignoring the consumer insights that social media can provide, according to a report by Satmetrix. Only 49 percent of surveyed b-to-b brands track what consumers are saying about them via social channels, compared with 78 percent of b-to-c brands and 68 percent of brands that serve both b-to-b and b-to-c markets. Moreover, only 31 percent of b-to-b brands have processes in place to follow up on customer feedback posted on social websites, compared with 58 percent of b-to-c brands and 54 percent of those serving both markets. Nike on 27 April turned New York City's Times Square into the Broadway Bowl, a full-on, truss-enclosed football field at Broadway and 42nd Street. The brand invited former NFL players, current athletes, cultural influencers and officers of the NYPD and FDNY to play a 30-minute five-on-five flag football game, to build excitement around the draft and Nike's new deal with the NFL to design the league's official team uniforms.
