White House Says it Encourages Business Travel

The White House encouraged Americans to travel, soothing words for the tourism industry that had complained for weeks that a remark from the president about corporate junkets had a chilling effect on business travel. With the industry showing real signs of a recovery, customer satisfaction among hotels improved in the first quarter of 2010 (+0.4 to 83.3). Customers were also happier with their car rental experiences (+0.8 to 79.2). CIC is now accepting nominations for the 2011 Class of Inductees for the CIC Hall of Leaders. Since 1985, the CIC has honored the industry's outstanding leaders and innovators with its bi-annual Hall of Leaders awards. Only those who have substantively contributed to the industry and whose efforts continue to shape it qualify for nomination. Nominations are submitted either by CIC member organizations or the general industry community.

The next Gala will be held sometime mid to late next year. The final details are still being worked out. In the meantime, we need you to promote the call for nominations to your board or other nominating body. An organization is limited to one nomination. We would also appreciate it if you would promote the call for nominations to the general industry in your publications. A press release will be distributed.
