The 2010 IEC National Leadership Conference is less than three weeks away. This invigorating conference will be held Jan. 25-28, 2010 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev. It will provide IEC members and chapter staff with the leadership tools they need to be more successful in their businesses and their chapter operations.

In health bill for everyone, provisions for a few

Early versions of the Senate's far-reaching health care bill said that small businesses with fewer than 50 workers would not be penalized if they failed to provide insurance. That was before labor unions in the construction industry went to work and persuaded Senate leaders to insert five paragraphs. More
Minnesota State awarded $95,000 industry training grant

Minnesota State Community and Technical College has been awarded a $95,000 Minnesota Renewable Energy Marketplace grant. Dan Eischens, Minnesota State's manufacturing and technical product director, said the grant will fund training for up to 60 workers in the areas of electrical and mechanical maintenance, welding, boiler operator and ethanol production. Training will be both onsite and online. More
Arizona governor wants more nuclear power in state

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer said that the state should include more nuclear power plants in its energy portfolio while cutting taxes and government regulation to provide a welcome mat for solar and wind projects encountering "green tape" elsewhere. More
