Designed by electrical contractors for electrical contractors, the 80–hour electrical project management course is presented in two non–consecutive 40–hour session weeks. The summer session will take place on June 15–19 and Aug. 11–14 at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind.; and the fall session will take place Sept. 29–Oct. 2, and Nov. 17–20 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. More

Construction of new homes and apartments fell 4 percent in December to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 557,000, from an upwardly revised 580,000 in November, lower than the 580,000 forecast by economists. The Commerce Department blamed the contraction on bad weather across much of the U.S. More

For some small–business owners, income tax filing season feels like a slow–motion train wreck. These are often owners who tend to be disorganized and unable to keep good records. Instead of keeping their companies' books with a small-business accounting program, they use a stack of overstuffed file folders or worse, boxes and shopping bags. CNA created an education video for electrical and mechanical contractors, entitled "The Unknown Hazard to Electricity." This video discusses arc blasts, which are a common hazard in the electrical industry. In the United States 5–10 of these explosions occur each day, seriously injuring over 2,000 workers each year. When these blasts occur, the electrical arcs produce some of the highest temperatures known on earth, up to 35,000°F! This three minute video tells the story of one worker who encountered an arc blast and managed to survive, without injuries.
