Last year, IEC worked with the Eaton Corporation to create a workforce development video to recruit new students to an electrical career and the IEC Apprenticeship Program. U.S. government advises replacing tainted drywall, electrical components Consumer Product Safety Commission Share ![]() ![]() ![]()
A significant amount of drywall from China has been found to contain formaldehyde which is a health hazard for humans and causes metal components such as wire, circuit breakers, and switches to corrode. Most of the drywall from China was used between 2004 to 2006. On Friday, April 2, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued guidelines that consumers replace "all possible problem drywall; all electrical components and wiring, including outlets, switches and circuit breakers; all gas service piping; fire suppression sprinkler systems; and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms." Jeremy Lauder represents the essence of entrepreneurship: creating one's own job. An architect by training, Lauder, 28, lost his job in that field during the heat of the 2008 economic crisis.
