Designing offices where both introverts and extroverts can thrive
Fast Company
Max Chopovsky, founder of Chicago Creative Space, a firm that helps companies create thriving office cultures through design, believes that business leaders focus so much on what has worked for others that they don't spend enough time thinking about the particular needs of their own employee base. "There's no secret sauce that’s applicable to every company out there," Chopovsky says. "Companies always say they want Google's space and culture, but that’s all wrong. They shouldn't strive to be anyone else; they should strive to be themselves."

Designing for sustainability and well-being in the workplace
Interiors & Sources
The workplace has a tremendous influence on our personal well-being. That's why experts are rethinking everything about it — how it encourages or inhibits movement, how it helps or hinders collaboration, how it celebrates or suppresses our humanity, and even how the materials we use to build it, decorate it, and furnish it impact our health.

New study concludes with strong evidence of the impact of school design on learning
USBC
Until now, it may seem bizarre, but the holistic impact of classroom design on the learning of school pupils has been pretty much an unknown quantity. Although many people intuitively feel that classroom design is important for effective learning, there has in fact been very little real evidence. After three years, the UK-based Holistic Evidence and Design study has now established the evidence for how important classroom design is for learning, and which of the factors involved are particularly important.

The new office landscape: 5 products for social spaces
Interior Design
With the countdown to NeoCon 2015 in full swing, let's take a look back at how far we've come with office furniture in the past year. The omnipresence of the Internet has changed the way we work and, in turn, the spaces that we work in. Lightweight laptops and powerful portable devices enable us to work in isolation — and from anywhere. Despite this, the traditional office is still an important space — but now its most important offering is the opportunity for collaboration and social interaction. It's a shift in focus that has been reflected in recent new office furniture designs, which take an altogether more casual approach, encouraging interaction, movement, comfort and flexibility.
