The FabricLink Network, Reseda, Calif. an online resource for specialty textiles has named its Top 10 Textile Innovations for 2011. The annual award recognizes new textile-based specialty fabrics product technologies, as well as existing specialty fabrics products featuring improved design, construction and performance characteristics. The FabricLink Network selects the winners based on a review of new products.

The High Point Market has received praise for its use of Pinterest, a new social media site that lets consumers gather information and share opinions on products and brands, according to market organizers. Social media experts cited the market's Style Spotters program. Launched in October, it featured market attendees who are followers of fashion and design trends highlighting their favorite products and trends showcased by exhibitors at market.

International Textile Manufacturers Federation reported that the output of global yarn production increased in the 3rd quarter of 2011 as a result of higher output in Asia in particular China and South America and in spite lower production in Europe and North America.
Year-on-year global yarn production was up slightly due to higher output in Asia and in spite of lower output in Europe, South and North America.
