With road trains, highways become public transportation

The latest concept, part of the EU's Safe Road Trains for the Environment initiative, groups cars with similar destinations into road trains over long stretches of highway.

Coin-free parking coming to Port Elizabeth, N.Z., soon

With the MobiPark Electronic Management System, the brainchild of local company Jongisizwe Traffic Solutions, coin-operated parking meters would be replaced by parking attendants with handheld HTC cellphones. The devices, which will be permanently linked to the municipal traffic management system, would capture vehicle information and calculate the parking fee due.
