Registration deadline approaching for border wait time measurement technology test, evaluation and deployment project – Vendor information session

The Border Wait Time Working Group is hosting a two-hour "Vendor Information Session" Web conference on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at 1 p.m. (Eastern) to inform technology providers about an upcoming opportunity to participate in a test of automated border wait time measurement systems. Pre-registration is required, and advance materials will be distributed to those who register before 5 p.m. (Eastern) on Dec. 10.

Technical and scientific papers are now being accepted for both the ITS America 20th Annual Meeting & Exposition in Houston in May 2010 and for the 17th World Congress on ITS in Busan, Korea in October 2010. The World Congress paper submission deadline is Dec. 31 and the Annual Meeting deadline is Dec. 16.

The commitments will ensure the rail program will create jobs in the U.S. and boost domestic manufacturing, LaHood said in a statement.

Mississippi DOT launches $3 million traffic management project

DOT awards funds to Dallas, San Diego for new technology initiative to fight congestion

In a historic step towards ending gridlock in urban areas across the country, the U.S. Department of Transportation today announced that the Dallas and San Diego areas will receive $14 million as the nation's first demonstration sites for new Intelligent Transportation System technologies that help fight congestion and enhance travel. The Integrated Corridor Management initiative will help the Dallas and San Diego metro areas become "living laboratories" in the fight against congestion.
