ITS America    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
On July 16, ITS America participated in a listening session hosted by the U.S. Department of Transportation entitled Innovative Finance for Surface Transportation. The U.S. DOT held the session in order to hear input from the capital market participants regarding their current credit and loan assistance programs, such as the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act and Railroad Rehabilitation & Improvement Financing, as well as the proposed I-FUND, also known as the National Infrastructure Bank proposed by President Obama as part of his 2011 budget. This proposed National Infrastructure Bank would have a budget of $4 billion that would be available for various transportation projects, from roadways, to transit, to railroad. The New York Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
As the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning sees it, Chicago in 2040 will no longer be battling its suburban neighbors for growth and prosperity opportunities. Another concern is a new transportation hub incorporating Union Station. Instead, the city will be part of a super-region competing with areas like China and Brazil. Two million more people will probably be crammed into the area, and Chicago may be served by a new, huge transportation hub with high-speed trains and other new transportation ideas. More
