SAM Childhood Illness Group Learning Session
June 4 — 12:30-5 p.m.
In conjunction with KAFP Annual Meeting
Marriott Hotel, Overland Park, Kansas
Q: What is a SAM Group Study Session?
A: Get credit for the Childhood Illness Self-Assessment Module of your American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) Maintenance of Certification though the SAM Group Study Session. At the session, diplomates will discuss and complete the 60-question Knowledge Assessment portion of the module presented by KAFP and moderated by Jen Brull, MD, FAAFP. Following the session, the facilitator will provide the names of all participants to ABFM stating you have completed this SAMs module. You will be required to log-in individually on your own and complete the Clinical Simulation.
Q: How do I know if I am eligible?
A: The SAM Group Learning Session is available to board certified family physicians only. Participants will receive credit if they are currently eligible and enrolled in the ABFM MC-FP process, haven't completed the current MC-FP stage, paid the MC-FP fees to the ABFM prior to completing the Clinical Simulation, and attended and fully participated in the educational discussion for the entire session. To check your status with ABFM, call 877-223-7437. Make sure you have not taken the Childhood Illness module.
Q: How many hours CME credit do I get for the SAM?
A: ABFM awards 12 credits to diplomates upon completion of the group study AND the clinical simulation.
Q: Can I do the Clinical Simulation on the same day?
A: Yes. Attendees will be eligible to complete the Clinical Simulation online after the conference on their own. Because it is an individual activity, it cannot be completed in the group format. The Clinical Simulation must be complete within one year of the SAM.
Q: What does the fee cover?
A: The SAM Group Study fee is $150 for members and $250 for non-members. Note: *There is a separate fee required by ABFM for the clinical simulation.
