Georgia is joining a Florida-led group of states in a lawsuit challenging President Barack Obama's overhaul of the U.S. health care system, Florida's attorney general said. Bill McCollum, who is seeking the Republican nomination to run for Florida governor, said a total of six U.S. states had now committed to join the original 13 that filed the lawsuit on March 23. Health insurance giant WellPoint Inc. recently shifted its nurse hotlines and other wellness programs from the administrative-cost column to the medical-cost side of the ledger book, a seemingly mundane move that actually represents a hot-button issue for regulators and the managed-care industry. Under the new U.S. health overhaul, the government will require insurers spend at least 80 cents of every premium dollar on patient care for individual and small-group plans and at least 85 cents for large-group plans. Insurers that fail to meet the minimums eventually will have to pay rebates. More
