Government Relations Update

H.R. 5771 Re-Cap
On Dec. 19, 2014, with just a few weeks before the law would expire, the President signed into law H.R. 5771 which temporarily extended several expired tax provisions related to individuals, business, and energy through Dec. 31, 2014.

This law retroactively expanded Section 179 deduction limits through December 31st 2014. This law reinstated the limit on Section 179 to $500,000 as well as reinstated 50 percent Bonus Depreciation.

The new law is now expired.

US factories head into 2015 with optimistic eye

U.S. factories, coming off their best performance since 2010, enter the new year optimistic that a December slowdown in growth will be a temporary blip. The Institute for Supply Management said its purchasing managers' index fell to 55.5 in December. That is down from 58.7 in November and below the 57.4 forecast by economists. For the year, the PMI averaged 55.8, the best reading since the first full year after the 2007-09 recession.More
