Changing contours of market research
Economic Times
TNS chief executive Richard Ingleton says the key to evolving forms of market research, even with the use of artificial intelligence, is relevance — why people are doing, or not doing, something. Over the years, the discipline of market research has undergone a massive transformation. Instead of sending scores of people to the field to collect data on the efficacy of products or services, researchers today are now merely trying to gauge people behaviour by observing their online activities.

Ontario allowing ranked ballot use in 2018 municipal election
680 News
The Ontario government is changing things up on the municipal election front by allowing the use of ranked ballots in 2018. Ranked ballots allow a voter to rank candidates in order or preference instead of voting for a single candidate. If no one candidate wins a majority of votes, the candidate with the least votes is cut and the votes are redistributed until a clear winner can be declared. That cut and redistribution can be done immediately, in an instant run-off or with follow-up elections.

Phys.org

Researchers use trap questions (also known as attention checks and instructional manipulation checks) to assess whether participants are paying attention to the instructions. However, most participants see these trick questions and become cautious about their answers, potentially altering a study's results.
