The Older Women's League (OWL) released its annual Mother's Day report at a Capitol Hill briefing. This 30th anniversary report focuses on end-of-life choices and acknowledges that it is a multifaceted, complex issue that is in dire need of attention. According to OWL, protecting individual rights in end-of-life choices must be achieved through state and federal action. "If we are to have the deaths we want, dignified and on our own terms, we need to get more comfortable talking about the topic and our wishes," states Natale Zimmer, Health Policy Director at OWL. The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging announced recipients of the 2010 MetLife Foundation Older Volunteers Enrich America Awards. The program, now in its eighth year, honors the exemplary contributions of older volunteers and promotes volunteering among older adults nationwide. The award-winning volunteers, who range in age from 59 to 95 years, were in Washington today to attend a ceremony in their honor. More
