Miami-Dade Aircraft Repair Firm Moves to Orlando Area from Miami Herald The Sanford Airport Authority is building a 40,000-square-foot hangar for Avocet at the Orlando Sanford International Airport in Seminole County, Fla. The facility is expected to be ready next year. Avocet is occupying a smaller, temporary facility while the new one is built. The company handles maintenance and repairs on cargo planes and is working on getting a Federal Aviation Administration license to work on commercial airliners, General Manager Maria Arellano said. Isles Losing Air Cargo Carrier from The Honolulu Advertiser Utah-based Alpine handled less than 20 percent of the U.S. Postal Service's interisland traffic to Lana'i, Kaua'i and Moloka'i, Hawaii, under a subcontract with Corporate Air Co. But Alpine said Billings, Mont.-based Corporate Air recently decided not to renew its contract, resulting in the termination of its Hawai'i service.

Hong Kong's Air Cargo Traffic Drops 17.6 Percent from AFP Air cargo shipped through Hong Kong dropped 17.6 percent year-on-year in May, the city's airport authority said, as the global downturn continued to slash demand for goods made in southern China. The Greater St. Petersburg Area Awesome Original Second Time Arounders -- a band whose 500-plus members accurately reflect its rambling name -- wrote a check for the amount. With the New York performance now in the past, the band is suing the charter airline for fraud and breach of contract. It's demanding its money back -- with interest. More
