Air, Sea Cargo Volume Soars from JoongAngDaily Reflecting signs of an economic recovery and growth in exports, air and sea cargo traffic at Korean companies is rising, according to several industry sources. Korean Air, the nation's leading air carrier, announced its cargo volume for the month of September increased 13 percent on-year to 90,600 tons, while in October, the figure jumped 16 percent to 96,400 tons. Air Berlin is Newest SFO Carrier from The Oakland Tribune San Francisco International Airport announced that despite sagging air travel around the nation it has added Air Berlin as its newest carrier. Air Berlin will offer twice-weekly nonstop service from SFO to Dusseldorf, Germany, starting in May. Airport officials said round-trip fares will start as low as $805 and the route will be SFO's first connection to Germany's "fashion capital and cultural center on the Rhine." More

American Airlines to Close Kansas City, Mo., Maintenance Base from The Dallas Morning News American Airlines Inc. said it intends to close its Kansas City, Mo., maintenance base in September and eliminate about 700 maintenance and engineering jobs. The decision could mean more jobs at American's Fort Worth base at Alliance Airport, as well as at its biggest base in Tulsa, Okla., as the carrier redistributes the work done in Kansas City. More
