Allegiant Air to offer flights to Phoenix from Wichita, Kan.

Allegiant Air will now offer flights from Wichita, Kan., to Phoenix-Mesa, Ariz. To celebrate the launch of Wichita's only nonstop service to Arizona the airline is offering fares to Phoenix for as low as $59.99 one-way. The new flights operate twice weekly, with service Monday and Friday. Flights depart Mid-Continent Airport, Wichita, Kan., at 12:25 p.m. arriving at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport at 1:45 p.m. More

Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. a leading provider of global air cargo assets and outsourced aircraft operating services, announced that its Atlas Air, Inc. operating unit has successfully passed the IATA Operational Safety Audit, known as IOSA. Atlas Air was added to the IATA registry as an IOSA Operator in 2007 after successfully completing their initial IOSA audit. More


North American Airlines to add a customized all-business class aircraft to fleet

North American Airlines, a subsidiary of Global Aviation Holdings, has entered into a letter of intent with MLW Air to lease and operate an all-Business Class Boeing 767-200 aircraft equipped with 100 luxurious seats, to be available early in 2010. More


Omni Air selects Delta for component support

Charter operator Omni Air International selected Delta TechOps to provide component and inventory support, including avionics and hydraulics, for its Boeing 767-300ER fleet. The companies didnt disclose the value of the five-year agreement. More


Tiny Prince George Airport in Canada, takes a first step on global stage

A little bit of history transpired at Prince George's airport. A 747 jumbo jet stuffed with cargo was scheduled to land at the city's airport. Operated by U.S. cargo company Southern Air, the jumbo will top off its fuel tanks and fly away as quickly as possible. It's an unremarkable event in most big cities. But this is big news for Prince George, British Columbia and Canada. More


Sun Country Airlines flies war vets to D.C. to see memorials

Sun Country Airlines has partnered with Honor Flight Tri-State. The airline will fly WWII Veterans to Washington D.C. to give the honorees the opportunity to reflect and visit their memorials. Sun Country Pilot, Jay Biggs, and flight attendant, Carol Doro, whom are operating the Honors Flight, will have their fathers, U.S. Veterans, on-board. More


Hundreds in airline industry gain a union voice on the job

More than 400 flight attendants and 170 pilots now have strong union voices after voting to join the Flight Attendants-CWA and the Air Line Pilots in three elections, recently certified by the National Mediation Board. More


Northrop Grumman receives $303 million Air Force contract

Defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. said it has received a $302.9 million U.S. Air Force contract for five unmanned aircraft systems. Under the contract for five RQ-4 Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft systems, Northrop Grumman will build five systems for the 303rd Aeronautical Systems Group at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. More


Ryanair axes 18 Shannon, U.K., routes

Mid-west holidaymakers, leisure travelers and the business community were stunned to learn that Ryanair International was not taking internet bookings for their popular routes from Shannon airport for next March. In fact, several destinations have already been cancelled. Those who purchased holiday homes in sunny climes such as Spain and Portugal, because of the ease of access from Shannon, contacted the Limerick Post to express their anger that the routes will no longer be available to them.
