State update — Delaware becomes latest state to ban BPA in children's products

On June 30, Delaware Gov. Jack Markell, a Democrat, signed a bill into law to prohibit the sale of baby bottles, sippy-cups and other containers intended for use by children under the age of four that contain bisphenol A (BPA). Under the new law, product manufacturers are immediately banned from selling children's products containing BPA in Delaware, and retailers must stop selling these products by July 1, 2012. The law is based on similar BPA bans that have been enacted in eight other states and the city of Chicago during the past two years.
