Lautenberg and Vitter jointly release bipartisan TSCA Reform Bill

Yesterday, Sens. Frank Lautenberg, D-NJ and David Vitter, R-LA introduced the Chemical Safety Improvement Act of 2013, a bipartisan bill to modernize the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Co-sponsored by an additional seven Republicans and seven Democrats, this bill could break the deadlock on TSCA reform since 2009. "While there is still much to review, we are hopeful that the provisions of the bill will enhance safety, while maintaining America's ability to compete in today's global marketplace," stated Chris Jahn, President, NACD.

Upcoming Webinar: TSCA — More than 'Toxic' Chemicals, More than Manufacturing Regulations

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recently increased its frequency of Toxic Substances Control Act compliance audits on industry, including NACD members. To help members stay compliant with TSCA requirements and to be prepared for an EPA audit, NACD will host a webinar, "TSCA – More Than 'Toxic' Chemicals, More Than Manufacturing Regulations," on Thursday, June 6, at noon Eastern. During this webinar, Lynn Bergeson and Kathleen Roberts of NACD Environmental Regulatory Partner Bergeson &amp; Campbell, P.C., will review the various TSCA sections and provide an analysis of how the regulations apply not only to chemical manufacturers, but also to chemical distributors who use, store, repackage, formulate, process, dispose of and/or import chemical products. If you have questions on whether your operations are subject to TSCA regulations or on the specific requirements of the law, you will not want to miss this timely webinar. Consider that in a few years, we will have five highly diverse generations working in organizations side-by-side with vastly different values, beliefs, and technology skill sets. Managers who understand these differences will be prepared to use them to their advantage. Is your organization ready for it? Then join us at the Central Region Meeting at the Union League Club of Chicago on June 12-14! Kathy Newton, MBA, PhD, and Professor of Industrial Distribution at Purdue University will lead a panel discussion on the "Manager's Guide to Generational Differences." Dr. Newton will share highlights of what NACD members are struggling with the most based on interviews with current members, and will facilitate a panel of NACD member to share their own experiences and recommendations for dealing with generational differences in the workplace. She will end the session with top recommendations for dealing with generational differences.

As employees seek more attention, feedback and support, leaders must become more mindful of individual needs in order to more effectively inspire professional development and overall performance.

Making space for change

<img src="http://www.multibriefs.com/briefs/img/exclusive_content.png" border="0" align="right" hspace="5" vspace="2"> Disconnects between a leader's vision and organizational culture are all too common in organizations. However well-respected — or well-feared — a leader may be, change cannot and will not occur simply because a leader says it will.
