Study: Exhibition industry outperforms

The Center for Exhibition Industry Research has released semiannual data that shows the overall exhibition industry gained 2.4 percent during the first half of 2011, outperforming the overall U.S. economy as compared to GDP only increasing 1.9 percent during the same period. Given the current fluctuant state of the global economy, this is positive news for the exhibition industry. It is anticipated that growth will continue through 2011. More

Pennsylvania caterer receives contract to operate at Virginia rest areas

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell's administration has awarded a contract to a Pennsylvania-based catering company to sell food, drinks and merchandise at Virginia highway rest areas. CRH Catering of Connellsville, Pa., will pay the Virginia Department of Transportation about $2 million a year for vending and advertising rights at the state's 42 rest areas and welcome centers. More
