NARI elects new officers
National Association of the Remodeling Industry
NARI elects new officers to lead the association during its Spring Business Meeting this year. This year, Kevin Anundson, MCR, CKBR, from Elm Grove, Wis., will be leading the association as president. “I view my responsibility as equally shared between providing homeowners with the most knowledgeable and quality minded contractors and suppliers, and providing benefits to our 27,000-plus members that cannot be realized by any other organization,” Anundson says. “In addition, I will continue advancing our legislative agenda and member participation to support our industry in a year of predicted growth.”

Rounding out the rest of the Executive Committee is Chairman Art Donnelly, MCR, CKBR, from Mount Sinai, N.Y.; President-Elect Judy Mozen, CR, GCP, from Roswell, Ga.; Treasurer H. Dale Contant, MCR, UDCP, from Marietta, Ga.; and Secretary Bob Didier, from Bohemia, N.Y. Read more about the elections here.

NARI announces 2014 National CotY winners

NARI announced the 25 National CotY winners at the Evening of Excellence awards program last Friday evening. Participants were able to join NARI onsite or online to find out if they won and to learn more about the award-winning projects. In addition, both audiences were able to interact on Twitter, using #EofE2014. The evening saw celebratory photos shared from across the country. If you didn’t read the March 26, NARI on the Hill e-newsletter, you will want to do so, to get to know NARI’s new lobbyists, Randi Fredholm Hutchinson and former Senator Tim Hutchinson, from the Washington firm of Dickstein Shapiro. Learn time management from Bucks-Mont NARI

The Bucks-Mont NARI chapter will learn “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People In Relation To Time Management” during its Thurs., April 10 meeting, from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees will learn:
  • How to organize and execute around priorities
  • Effective time management does not focus on ‘things and ’ ‘time’   but on ‘relationships’ and ‘results’
  • Time management may be a misnomer — the challenge is not to   manage time but to manage ourselves

Premiums continue to rise for small-business owners

Even though small business owners who buy their own health insurance may be able to renew their plans for 2015 — even if they aren't compliant with the Affordable Care Act — premiums will continue to rise. "Costs will continue to increase across the board," said Jeff Gilmore, president of Benefit Planning Associates in Bloomington. That mixed bag has left some small business owners convinced that they're subsidizing expanded health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
