The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress is accepting nominations for its 2014-15 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award program. The MVP Program honors a maximum of 10 outstanding roofing workers. Roofing contractor firms can nominate any field roofing worker, foreman or superintendent. Remodelers forecast revenue gains this fall and winter

"Compared to the same time last year, we've seen a 7 percent increase in the number of survey respondents who have a favorable outlook on the current state of the market," GuildQuality reports in its second-quarter survey of members. "Confidence in the market is also up 7 percent from last quarter," the Atlanta-based group says, and 72 percent expect some kind of performance this fall and winter.

2014 total housing purchases slightly lower as all-cash home purchases fall

Total existing home sales dropped 5.3 percent from last year and all-cash purchases accounted for 23 percent of the purchases, a 6 percent drop from July 2014. Despite the decline in all-cash investors, NAR President Steve Brown believes the housing market is in good shape now that more first-time buyers have the opportunity to finance a home.

Immigrants boosting sales in the US housing market

An eye-opening report released by Fannie Mae revealed new and rather unprecedented developments in the housing horizon. It seems that the homeownership gap between native-born Americans and immigrants has been steadily narrowing in the past decade. Not only have immigrants weathered the recession better, but they are also being hailed as the solid support for the housing industry. As per the report, while native-born homeownership fell between 2000 and 2010, immigrant homeownership has increased from 49.8 percent to 52.4 percent during this time.
